Flag Day!

The verdict is in, Katie & Greg are going to Uganda!

The day has finally arrived and our anxiety couldn’t be any higher, Flag Day!  Today we finally find out where we’ll be spending the next two years of our lives.  The past two weeks have been a whirlwind and as I sit in the Flag Day room watching the 135^th class enter I feel nervous and anxious for everyone.  As I see the flags about to make their appearance I can’t help but wonder if this is real and if we made the right decision.  I can see the flags and run the ranked list of them through my head again and again.

As the presentation begins I catch myself holding my breath every time one of our 12 flags is shown.  There is no order to how names are being called, increasing my anxiety to levels I didn’t think possible.  About halfway through and the flag we want comes on screen.  The verdict is in and by some miracle, I hear Greg’s name being called – we got our top pick of Kampala, Uganda!

The rest of the day is a blur, I’m so excited I can’t wait to be with Greg and celebrate our victory!
